Ready...set...sew!

I sewed on Friday and on Sunday but nothing on Saturday, I didn't even knit on the way to Champaign.  I love car trips, I like to play on my phone, knit, read and play on the iPad.  Or nap, which is what I did on Saturday.
Before I sewed on Sunday, I got to visit two new fabric stores in Chicago - Vogue Fabrics and Rainbow Fabrics.  It was fun to see stores with bolts and bolts of fabric to make clothing.  I got a couple of yards at each store and all kinds of notions at Vogue.  Then I came home and finished the potato bags, put a fork in them, they're done!

I also finished the quilting on the Sweet time quilt, it has been the most fun to quilt on Gladys.  I must love making those flowers.  I took it off the Longarm, clipped threads and looked for places where I missed the quilting pattern.  I found two gaps in the squares and was able to fix them up in a jiffy on my regular machine. 
My regular machine no longer winds bobbins.  I have had it fixed twice already for this.  I have had issues with this function since I bought it.  I asked for and will receive a new sewing machine for Christmas, mainly because I am so spoiled but also because my Elna is ten years old and losing functions.  I am super excited about my new machine so I try not to think about it!

Here is a close up of the binding.  I decided to use the bright pink and I sewed half on by machine.

I will stitch this on the back by hand, it will probably take two nights of watching TV to get this done.

I thought about doing it by machine but it is small enough, it shouldn't take that long.  I like this little quilt so I want to finish it up right.

Now I have to start on this week's presents, the cards are done and mailed.  Boo!  I love doing them, I am kindof sad they are finished.  Don't judge me, we all have our quirks!

Here are the fabrics for this week's projects, aren't they terrific?  I just love fabric!  I want to make a quilt for Baby Girl's other sibling so I got this moda fat quarter packet.  I have 12 plaid fat quarters and the pattern Turning Twenty plus 4 yards of a red and blue check for the back.  I should be able to come up with a nice lap quilt using these items.  I also have a nice soft fabric, that I want to make an apron out of.  You can see the future apron fabric at the back of the table.  No, as a matter of fact I never do get sick of making aprons!

Tomorrow I want to see if I can get most of the new quilt top done,  my goal is to have it on Gladys by Friday.   Am I up to the challenge?  Let's see!
